DANA FLOOD
We were all shocked by this flooding in Valencia and the effect it had on people’s homes and belongings, some of which can never be replaced. The wider community including schools and businesses were all affected to some degree. As a lodge we decided to support various causes working on the recovery either by personal involvement with the clean up or donations of funds. The view that was adopted of being the best way to support the relief efforts was by financial means; as material items were being donated in large quantities. These monies came from lodge members however we did distribute a donation from fellow masons in Portugal a truly international effort.
So over a period of several days the Lodge made donations as :-
The sum of €1155,00 GENERALITAT VALENCIA
THIS SUM WAS MATCH FUNDED BY BANCO SABADELL: FOR DISTRIBUTION BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT ( The bulk of this donation came from our 153 Festival Fund )
The sum of €500,00 COLEGIO LARRODE
THIS IS A LOCAL SCHOOL AND HOPEFULLY SOME NORMAL ACTIVITIES RETURNED FOR THE CHILDREN:
The sum of €500,00 WORLD CENTRAL KITCHENS
THIS CHARITY AS THE NAME IMPLIES PROVIDE MEALS / FOOD FOR THOSE EFFECTED AND THE EMERGENCY / VOLUNTEER PERSONNEL WORKING IN THE AREA. AS WELL THEY ALSO SOURCE PRODUCE FROM LOCAL SUPPLIERS THEREBY SUPPORTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY.
The sum of €450,00 AYUNTAMIENTO BENIPARRELL
THIS DONATION WAS TO THE RELIEF FUND ADMINISTERED BY THE AYUNTAMIENTO FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE LOCAL PERSONS IN THE LODGES VICINITY.
PerElls
While not directly effected by the DANA FLOODING the general area was awash as indeed were many others, this made access challenging. As other years some members supported PerElls when the three kings visited the centre, we continual to offer financial support to the day centre as funds allow. Our Worshipful Master would like to remind the brethren of the initiative of recycling items that you now find are no longer of use to you.
Provincial Golf Day
As in the past the lodge has sponsored “a hole” in this tournament and this it is hopped will continue for another year. So even if you are not a golf player you may still go along and enjoy a good walk or the facilities at the centre.
We thank you for time in reading these words.
